What qualifications do solar installers require?
Posted: 19 Dec 2013
An installer should have two critical documents in order install PV systems:
- An Electrical License – or be working under the supervision of an person with an Electrical License.
- Accreditation with the Clean Energy Council of Australia.
While the accreditation with the Clean Energy Council is not a strict requirement to install PV systems it is strongly recommended for two reasons:
- The CEC provides training and constant updates on installations of PV systems. This is particularly relevant given the bulk of wiring in PV systems is DC which has different requirements to AC wiring which most electricians will be familiar with working on.
- A PV system can receive government rebates ONLY if the installer is CEC accredited.
