Home and Business Battery Scheme Now Closed
The NT Government’s Home and Business Battery Scheme has now reached its $6 million funding cap and is closed to new applications.
If you’ve already applied but haven’t been approved, your application will only be considered if extra funding becomes available — and there’s no guarantee it will be assessed.
Still want help with battery costs?
You may still be eligible for the Federal Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which offers a rebate of around 30% off the battery system cost. This nationwide scheme is available from 1 July 2025 and applies across all states and territories, including the NT.
Solar for Multi-Dwellings Grant Scheme
The grant scheme helps apartment buildings, unit complexes and strata properties in the Northern Territory install shared solar and battery systems.
Eligible management corporations can receive up to $7,500 per dwelling (excluding GST), covering up to 50% of total installation costs for:
Shared solar PV systems
Solar-sharing technology
Smart meters
Battery storage systems
For example, a 10-unit complex could receive up to $75,000 towards a shared solar and battery installation.
The program is delivered by the NT Government’s Department of Mining and Energy and funded through the Australian Government’s Community Solar Banks Program.
See the NT Gov website for more information.
