Solar rebates are under threat!
Recent comments from Liberal MPs Tony Abbott and Craig Kelly and recent news articles indicate that pressure is mounting for changes to be made to the Small Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) which provides the rebate to homeowners who install solar.
Tony Abbott made the comment recently that “Australians are paying far too much for our emissions obsession” and called for the abolition of the subsidies available for both residential and large scale solar.
The rebate is currently worth the following amounts depending on system size.
System sizeNumber of panels (approx.)Value of rebate (STCs)
1.5 kW | 5 | $975 |
2 kW | 7 | $1,313 |
3 kW | 10 | $1,988 |
4 kW | 13 | $2,663 |
5 kW | 16 | $3,338 |
6 kW | 19 | $4,013 |
7 kW | 23 | $4,688 |
If the rebate was cut, system prices would increase by these amounts.
Because of the political nature of renewable energy in Australia, changes could happen quickly so if you’ve been considering installing a solar system on your property, now is the time to investigate if it’s right for you before prices increase.
Don’t Miss out on the extremely generous rebates available!
