Australia installed more solar panels than any other country in the world last year, but is still under utilising its renewable energy potential. According to Professor Tim Flannery, chief commissioner and author of the Climate Commissions first major report on renewable energy approximtaely 10 per cent of our energy needs are being met by renewable energy. However, Australia is also positioned well to shift away from fossil fuels and develop the renewable energy industry further than current utilisation.

The report highlights the vast potential of solar and wind in Australia, and the speed at which Australian’s have taken up renewable energy offerings. Panels have dropped in price 75% from four years ago, and at the same time, Australia has over 754,000 households and businesses with solar panels installed.
