Types of Charging Solutions

Destination Charging

This involves charging stations installed at various locations that EV drivers visit, such as shopping centres, restaurants, and tourist destinations. These stations are intended to provide convenient charging options for EV owners while they are engaged in activities at their destination.

Car Parks

Charging stations can also be installed at car parks in various locations, such as office buildings, retail centres, and public transport hubs. These charging points provide a reliable and convenient charging option for EV owners who park their vehicles for extended periods.

Fleet Vehicles

The Charge Up Workplace Grants program is also focused on supporting the transition of fleets to electric vehicles. Businesses and organisations can apply for funding to install EV charging stations for their fleets, reducing the environmental impact of their transportation activities.

These charging situations provide an opportunity for EV owners to charge their vehicles during the day, increasing the accessibility and convenience of electric vehicle ownership.

With the Charge Up Workplace Grants program, the aim is to create a network of charging stations that will encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles, promoting a sustainable future for Western Australia.

What the Grants Program Will Co-Fund

During Round 1, the Charge Up Workplace Grants Program will co-fund the following:

Electric Vehicle Chargers

Up to four Level 2 (7 to 22 kW) electric vehicle (EV) chargers per site, covering 50% of the purchase cost. It is mandatory that you select a charger from the approved list. A maximum of five sites per applicant can be funded.

Installation Costs

Installation costs covering 50% of the expenses with a funding cap of $5,000 per site in the Greater Perth area, and $10,000 for regional and remote areas, excluding GST.

  • The Greater Perth area is defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
  • Regional and remote areas are areas outside of the Greater Perth area.

Software Costs

Software costs covering 75% of the expenses for a two-year period. You must select the software from the approved list before selecting a charger as some chargers may not be compatible with certain software. Software is mandatory to receive grant funding.

The maximum grant amount for Round 1 is $50,000 per applicant within the Greater Perth area and $75,000 for other areas of the State, exclusive of GST.

The Grants Program will not provide funding support for the following types of expenses:
